Location: 130 Main Street Middletown, CT 06457
Price: $$
Atmosphere: Osaka looks very japanese and Japanese dojo/house looking inside. The place looks traditional and nice on the outside of the building, conveniently located right in downtown middletown and in its own building. Place is pretty big with a variety of settings to sit at including the hibachi booth with cook table display, sushi bar, regular bar, and various tables separated by bamboo walls.
Nice photos and menus on Idine (Website Link above).
Food: We ordered eel sushi. It was good, but I think it had the lower quality rice used in buffet sushi instead of the higher quality rice. The Tempura Udon soup was good, in a very generous proportion, filled with variety of veggies, and a generous proportion of shrimp and vegetable tempura on the side, which is good for dipping in the soup or the sauce provided.
We also ordered the Yase Nabi, which is filled with fish, clam, crabmeat, scallop, shrimp, in broth, similar to the Udon soup dish without the udon.
Both soups are sort of plain, (which is good for those with low sodium intake), so it is tastier if seasoned with one of their sauces they provide or a little soy sauce.
For Vegans and Vegetarian, there are a vegetable options in almost every section of the menu, dishes like vegetable tempura, vegetable hibachi, vegetable teriyaki, and sushi options. So you will be happy there are those options.
Service: We came on a Sunday so it was not packed and we were seated right away. They were very attentive.
